Catholic Education

At Our Lady of the Holy Rosary St. Richard Catholic School, we are proud to be a Catholic community where faith and learning come together each day. Part of being Catholic means seeing each person as a child of God — created in His image and called to grow in mind, heart, and spirit. Rooted in the Gospel, our school provides a loving environment where faith is lived, knowledge is pursued, and every child is encouraged to become the person God created them to be.
We teach our students to treat others with love, kindness, and respect, striving always to be like Jesus. Guided by our mission to welcome and educate diverse students and families, we provide an excellent program that forms Catholic, faith-driven leaders with a spirit of service.
We believe that true education nurtures the whole child, cultivating faith, intellect, and character. Through a balance of spiritual formation and academic excellence, we help students grow in wisdom, confidence, and compassion.

Our Catholic approach encourages students to think critically, pray deeply, and serve joyfully. We foster intellectual curiosity in the classroom, provide daily opportunities for prayer and worship, and inspire a lifelong commitment to serving others. In all that we do, we aim to help our students recognize God’s presence in their studies, their relationships, and their dreams for the future.
Empowered by faith and guided by love, we trust in God’s promise:
- “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” — Philippians 4:13
- “If God is for us, who can be against us?” — Romans 8:31
Sacraments
First Penance
Second Grade students receive First Penance, usually in the second semester, as a step toward First Holy Communion. Preparation is provided through ongoing religious instruction that helps students understand God’s forgiveness and love.
First Holy Communion
After First Penance, students celebrate First Holy Communion, typically during the Easter season. Instruction throughout the year guides students to approach this sacrament with reverence and understanding.
Confirmation
Confirmation completes Christian Initiation and is generally received in Eighth Grade, usually in the Spring, and administered by a bishop. Students prepare through lessons and reflection, including a school-organized retreat, to deepen their faith and readiness for the sacrament.
