Our History

Our Lady of the Holy Rosary St. Richard Catholic School has been rooted in faith, love, and service since 1959, when Bishop Coleman F. Carroll established the first new parish in the Diocese of Miami. Having been baptized in Holy Rosary Church in Pittsburgh and educated by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Baden, Pennsylvania, Bishop Carroll entrusted the Sisters to open and lead the school. Guided by their faith and dedication, the school quickly grew into a place where children could flourish in knowledge, faith, and character.

On November 28, 2010, Archbishop John C. Favalora united Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Parish and St. Richard Parish, creating Our Lady of the Holy Rosary St. Richard Catholic Church and School. This merger brought together two vibrant parish families, strengthening the bonds of community and renewing our commitment to nurturing children in the Catholic tradition.

HRSR Today

Our Lady of the Holy Rosary St. Richard Catholic School is a joyful, faith-filled community where children are encouraged to grow academically, spiritually, socially, and personally. Fully accredited by the Florida Catholic Conference, our school is staffed with caring administrators and teachers who hold baccalaureate and advanced degrees, and who are certified or in the certification process.
Our Catholic faith remains at the heart of everything we do. Through daily prayer, weekly liturgies, and acts of service, students are invited to deepen their relationship with God and live out the values of the Gospel in their daily lives.

We are also proud to offer a strong special education program, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive in a supportive, caring environment.

  • South Campus
Located between the Village of Palmetto Bay and Cutler Bay, the South Campus serves students from Pre-K2 through eighth grade. Spanning 11 acres of beautifully landscaped property, it offers a welcoming and peaceful environment where students can learn, play, and grow together as one family in faith.
  • North Campus
In the 2025–2026 school year, we became the first dual-campus school in the Archdiocese of Miami, as we expanded to a second location to serve our growing parish and community. The North Campus, located on the parish property in Palmetto Bay, is home to our preschool, welcoming children as young as infants. With its lovingly landscaped grounds and nurturing atmosphere, it provides a safe and faith-centered space where our youngest learners begin their educational journey.

At Our Lady of the Holy Rosary St. Richard Catholic School, we are united by our Catholic faith and dedicated to living each day with love, kindness, and respect.
